What Fingal County Council say

Orla, Shane and the team had to commit to providing photographers seven days a week and, sometimes, at short notice. They assembled a team of photographers, strategically located across the county, and, since the first contract was signed in 2018, they have provided an excellent service. A key attribute is creativity and knowledge of what picture editors want which has resulted in us landing key positions, including the front page of the Irish Times. They have also helped update our library of stock photographs and we have found that they bring the same standard of excellence to every job they do for us. Their quick turnaround is impressive and they have the ability to provide instant photographs for use on social media which has been extremely useful to us during high-profile visits.”
– Gerry Mc Dermott, Media Communications Manager

What they require

Fingal County Council is the largest local authority in Ireland and, for the past two years, Coalesce has covered all aspects of its PR and corporate photography and now since we have expanded our group we've started doing some video with them.

The local authority has several departments all requiring a regular supply of photographers to cover events and launches on a weekly basis, many at the last minute.

Image turnaround needs to be quick and channeled through the Communication Department and/or to the local media or national press and, sometimes, during the event for social media. Flexibility is needed to allow for rescheduled or last-minute events and there has to be capacity to cover more than one event daily.

What Coalesce do for Fingal County Council

Because of the structure of Fingal County Council, there is both a political and corporate aspect to each job. Each photo shoot involves local TDs and councillors as well as the Fingal County Council team and often other stakeholders. This demands our photographers manage the group carefully in order to achieve strong media images as well including different variations of participants.

Because of the high volume of work, eight of our photographers are assigned to Fingal County Council, with all initial communications carried out through a central contact at Coalesce.

When an event is confirmed and the most suitable photographer selected, Fingal County Council is connected with the photographer through our servers so they can discuss ideas directly. We liaise with the Communications Office to allow them to control the flow of images to the local media. If the event requires a national release, Coalesce deals directly with the national news desks.

Since Covid 19 restrictions Fingal's needs have changed and now, in addition to photography, we have worked with Fingal County Council Arts on their 'Let's Stay Together' initiative. We use remote videography to connect artists, writers and musicians to their community. You can find out more about this service here: https://www.coalesce.ie/our-work/remote-videography
